Just Reach Up, Don’t Give Up

I’ve been a fan of Avril Lavigne since I was a kid. It is because I was captured by her undeniably good looks and fashion style. Aside from that, I was also mesmerized by her inner beauty which makes her stand out among the other artists wherein fact, she has a foundation called “The Avril Lavigne Foundation“.

Months before Avril releases the official music video of her song entitled “Fly,”she had suffered from Lyme disease and was bedridden for months.

This music video of her song is truly a very inspirational music video which makes me love not only the song and the music video itself but also Avril.

She released the song “Fly” which was written by herself with the help of her ex-husband Chad Kroeger and David Hodges as a charity single for her own foundation and became the 2015 Special Olympics theme song.

Special Olympics are for athletes with intellectual disabilities who have undergone special year-round trainings and trained very hard for this said competition. People with intellectual disabilities but has a God-given talent for sports are highly recommended and encouraged to join this said Olympics which helps to boost their social competence, self-confidence and higher self-esteem.

“Fly”

There’s a light inside of all of us
It’s never hiding you just have to light it
It’s the one thing that you gotta trust
It’s like a diamond, you just have to find itSo if you ever feel like giving up
Yeah, just remember that.. we were all meant to flySpread your wings across the universe
It’s your time to—it’s your time to shine
There’s a light inside of all of us
Soon, you’ll find that it’s your time to fly
Your time to flyA little help is all it ever takes
Somebody else to tell you it’s worth fighting
A single step becomes a leap of faith
That’s when you realize you started flying

So, don’t you ever say you’re giving up
No, there’s no looking back… ’cause we were all meant to fly

Spread your wings across the universe
It’s your time to—it’s your time to shine
There’s a light inside of all of us
Soon, you’ll find that it’s your time to fly
It’s your time to fly

Just reach up, don’t give up
Until you’ve touched the sky
Just reach up, don’t give up
Until you’ve realized…

That we were all meant to fly

Spread your wings across the universe
It’s your time to—it’s your time to shine
There’s a light inside of all of us
Soon, you’ll find that it’s your time to fly, fly

It’s your time to—it’s your time to shine, shine
Soon, you’ll find that it’s your time to fly

Spread your wings across the universe
It’s your time to—it’s your time to shine
There’s a light inside of all of us
Soon, you’ll find that it’s your time to fly

The song “Fly” is all about inner strength, courage, overcoming and conquering any challenges and obstacles someone might face in life and was released 100 days before the start of this year’s Special Olympics which was expected as the world’s largest sporting event in this year. I love how the harmonious relationship between the message of the lyrics of this music video and the video itself were well connected and well conveyed.

This song took a part in the singer/song-writer’s life during the time that she was sick and diagnosed with Lyme disease which was caused by tick bite. She fought this disease for 8 months and was bedridden for 5 months. The Pop Punk Princess even thought she was dying because she hardly couldn’t breathe, talk and move.

It’s good to see that after she has gone through the hardships and challenges in her life, she still manages to see the bright side of life and releasing this song was considered as her most inspiring comeback after fighting Lyme disease.

This song can serve as a motivation to others just like how this song serves as Avril’s motivation during her tough battle with Lyme disease. The music video and the lyrics were very meaningful and full of positivities in life that it could enlighten and brighten one’s mood or feeling by just watching or listening to it.
